New Year, New House, New Opportunities

It’s been WAY too long since I’ve posted anything to this site.  Since my last blog, almost an entire year has passed.  We’ve moved into our new house, and we’re all settled.  The plans I had for the press and Winter Beard were kind of put on the back-burner, and all our focus was spent on the house search and then the remodeling.

Now that things have calmed down, I hope to move forward more with print jobs and other projects.  I spent all day yesterday updating the Etsy shop, and we will be adding more items soon!  I also spent a part of the day updating our social media sites.  If you’re not already, give us a follow on Instagram and on Twitter.  And, while you’re at it, give us a “Like” over on our Facebook page.  We will have a booth at the upcoming craft fair in Ashland City on April 11 that will benefit Safe Haven Cheatham County, and we’re really excited to be a part of that (more information to come in a later post concerning this wonderful opportunity to support a great charitable organization).

So, it’s a new year, we’re all settled in a new home, and it looks like there will be new opportunities for Winter Beard Studios in 2015.  I’m excited, and I hope that you’ll be a part of this exciting new year!

Team Street

A friend of mine, Kelly, is a renaissance man, a pretty good guitar picker, and an all around good guy.  He can also add father of two to his resumé, and when he asked me to design a poster for his family using the family motto “No Whining” I was only too happy to oblige.  One of his boys is obsessed with trains and Kelly loves the old style of printing almost as much as I do; so, together we came up with the “Team Street” design above.

The final poster design was printed 11″x17″ on oatmeal card stock.

Retro Car Greeting Card

Now with more Pep!

Now with more Pep!

We recently printed up these cool greeting cards featuring a retro-styled automobile with a bright yellow sunburst background.  For a cute sentiment inside, the words “You drive me crazy.” are printed in black.

I think they would make great cards for Valentine’s day or any occasion where you want to let that special someone know that your heart still goes VROOM-VROOM whenever they’re around.

Also available with blank insides, these cards and other paper goodies can be found in our Etsy shop.  Check it out by clicking here.

Burchett Cabin

The cabin built by Jim Burchett’s father has been enjoyed by three generations, and when Jim’s son expressed his love for the place in the sweet words of a child, they wanted to incorporate it into a custom piece that would hang at the cabin forever.

This piece was a joy to make and the distressed look of the photo transferred to the wooden “canvas” will fit in the rustic cabin nicely.

Let the Printing Begin!

With moving two weekends ago and camping with the family last weekend, I haven’t had a lot of time to tinker around on the press.

Tonight, with the help of my apprentice/son, I printed 150 business cards. I let my helper choose the ink color and he wisely chose Reflex Blue because, as he put it, “Blue makes me think of Winter.”

He’s thinking like a printer already.
